PS

It's worth watching the video of Aidan reading one more time. This time, just watch Naomi. As you watch her watching him, you can see some of the sweetness in their relationship, I think. And, FYI, the green tree with red blooms at the end of the driveway is a famed pohutukawa, and the bird with the funny call in the background is a tui. These are the sounds and sights of New Zealand...

We have just come home from visiting at #3 Ocean Road. We sat with Aidan as he sounded out several stories, one of which Naomi had written. He READ that story, slowly sometimes, but READING it. It was like seeing the lights twinkle on in a landscape - both of us were close to tears of joy, both at his discovery and at Naomi's love for him and helping him make these discoveries.

What a beautiful scene! Great to hear your voices - get's lonely here too.
I don't know whether your blog alerts you to new comments added to previous posts, but I've placed another diatribe to the post for 5th January.

Love to you Jennifer.

Ah what a contrast. I am sitting here WISHING my things were out at sea somewhere. Somehow over 25 years of marriage, we've accumulated 22 boxes of Christmas decorations. It has taken the bulk of two days to take down what is truly my least favorite holiday. I've finally gotten a minute to myself to rest and had a moment to read your latest entries.
I loved the reading video. I became so engrossed in Aidan's reading that I forgot to watch Naomi and then found that she and I were laughing simultaneously and with similar feeling. What a funny world this internet has created.

I remember the day and minute I learned to read...in the grocery store...Campbell's soup label and I was 4...using my phonics skills my grandfather had recently taught me...the soup was....TO...MA...TO...I said it three times and poof, I was stunned...It said something!!!!I wanted my mother to stay in that store forever as I suddenly realized there were words EVERYWHERE. I begged car rides with anyone who would take me so I could read the billboards...however they would soon tire of driving so slowly.

I loved seeing the house and the ocean...I hope you will repeat the process and let us see how it does come together with your stamp when your things arrive. Enjoy missing them for now. I think of all issues I have with being American, it is consumerism. We all simply have too much stuff. Too much of my day centers around the reorganization and transportation of stuff from place A to place B.

It is raining in Augusta today...a sort of warm but incessant rain. I am hoping your dad and Jamie didn't get stalled in NYC with their flight. I hope they loved Cirque. I know they will have spent a good deal of time getting wet waiting to get into the circus tent as it rained cats and dogs Friday night when they went. You and your dad will have had a commonly wet weekend.
I love the pictures and videos. I love what you are doing, hard and challenging as it is, it is still an adventure- frought with discovery, as all good adventures are.
